Why do I need to make a Will?

Making a Will is the only way to ensure that what you leave behind will be distributed according to your own wishes.  It helps you to be certain that your family and friends will be cared for.  It is also an opportunity to leave a life-saving gift to Target Tuberculosis.  If you don’t have a Will the State will decide how your property should be divided and if you don’t prepare properly a substantial part of what you leave behind may go to the State.

Why should I Remember A Charity in my Will?

The essence of a Will is that it allows you to pass on your possessions to benefit others.  Throughout your life you have supported your favourite charity (or charities.)  Leaving a gift to them in your Will means they can continue the work you supported in your lifetime.  Leaving a gift to Target Tuberculosis will help stop people from needlessly dying of TB for years to come – your gift will save lives.

One of the most tragic effects of TB is the devastating impact upon family life. If children loose their parents to TB they are often left to fend for themselves and this leaves them vulnerable to exploitation.

Your gift will help families like Odette’s

Odette looks after her children and home whilst her husband earns a small income as a farmer.  When she became ill she had no idea that her symptoms pointed to TB and she continued to care for her family as her health worsened.  Our team found Odette when they were going door to door in rural Timor-Leste, by this stage Odette’s health had deteriorated to the point where she was no longer able to care for herself, let alone her children.  The out look was bleak. 

The Target TB team responded quickly and efficiently, Odette was provided with the free testing and then the intensive TB treatment she needed to recover.  She has now finished her treatment and can once again look after her family.  Because of Target TB Odette did not die needlessly from TB and her children did not lose their mother.  They remain a family with a future to look forward to.

By leaving a gift to Target TB in your Will you can help another family, like Odette’s, remain a family for years to come.  Your legacy will do something amazing – it will save lives.

What difference will my legacy really make?

A staggering 2 million people will die this year from Tuberculosis.  These deaths are needless as TB is both preventable and curable.
