Winter Warmer is perfect Christmas treat

Winter Warmer ConcertWe would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Winter Warmer Event in December and made it such a huge success.

An excitable audience were entertained and delighted by the always brilliant Vivace! choir, who collected a fabulous selection of old favourites and festive classics to entertain us with.  The audience were also in good voice, as we were quickly roped into singing festive classics such as ‘Once in Royal David's City’ and ‘O Come all ye faithful’.

The night raised over £600 which will go towards saving the lives of vulnerable people living with TB in Africa and Asia.

Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a super event - thanks also to all the local businesses who offered prizes for the raffle and pastries for the interval.

A huge thanks goes to:

Cristina our amazing volunteer who made the night such a success, our fabulous actors Kate Dyson and Nicholas Boulton who thrilled us all with their festive readings, Chilli Pickle Restaurant for not 1 but 2 gift vouchers for their scrumptious food, Boxbird Art Gallery, Unlimited editions, Montezuma’s, Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer’s, Mr Simms Sweet Shop, Real Patisserie, Co-Operative, Clipper Teas and Hell’s Kitchen Deli.

Keep your eyes peeled for more Target TB event in 2012!

Isabelle's incredible story

IsabelleIsabelle Pires is 31, she lives with her husband and two small children in Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste (East Timor.) Timor-Leste has one of the highest burdens of TB in Asia and with over 50% of the population living on less than $1.25 a day we are working now to reduce the numbers of people dying from this devastating disease.

Isabelle became ill with TB in 2006, she was started on a course of treatment, but this failed.  She was started on a second course, but this also failed and her health had deteriorated to the point where she was too weak to work and was unable to breastfeed her baby.

Having had two courses of regular TB treatment fail, the health centre she was attending suspected that she had Multi Drug Resistant TB (MDR-TB.)

"Looking for life"

Florence in UgandaWhen Target TB staff travelled to Uganda earlier this year they were struck by many of the stories of the people they met, whose lives had been affected by TB.  One such person was mother of four, Florence.  Click here to read her full story.

How good is your memory?

Memory Game

Last week we joined forces with other local charities to play the largest ever version of the classic Memory Game.  The Game took place all over the country and we were photographed outside the iconic Brighton Pavilion, where one by one we 'disappeared' from shot.  Click here to read more.
